Thread Milling is an operation to produce Internal / External Threads by milling. Thread Milling is used to produce accurate threads. However, thread milling consumes more time than tapping. The reason is that the thread mill requires more passes to achieve the desired thread dimensions.

OSG, a leading rotating tool manufacturer from Japan has come out with
the solution with a solid carbide thread milling tool that can produce threads
in just one pass.

Features of AT-1

The AT-1 Thread Mill is designed with cutting action and helix in opposite direction so
that potential tool deflection is prevented. It has left hand helix with right
hand cut.

In order to control the vibrations, the AT-1 is designed with unequal spacing and variable lead flute geometry. This is a great feature as far as tool performance is
concerned. It has multiple effect on the tool stability, thread quality and the tool life.

The OSG’s EgiAs coating allows the user to operate the tool with higher parameters as
well as ensures longer tool life.

OSG also provides ThreadPro a NC Code generator software which is designed for thread mills and it supports 8 NC programming languages.

Product Range

The AT-1 Thread Mills are available in following sizes:

  • M6 – M24
  • ¼” – 1” UNC
  • R (PT)・Rc (PT)1/16~2
  • Rp (PS)・G (PF)1/16~2
